Robert Johnson was an Australian Impressionistic painter, known for his realistic oils and watercolor of the landscapes of Australia. His work is characterized by its soft palette and bright, sun-drenched scenes, capturing the beauty of the rugged rural parts of the country. Born in 1890 in Aukland, New Zealand, Johnson was trained at the Elam School of Art. He moved to Australia with his wife, and there became known for his harbor scenes and landscapes, selling them in galleries throughout Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide. He was also a regular exhibitor with the Royal Art Society of New South Wales. Johnson died on April 11, 1964 in Sydney, Australia. Please view images as all images are of the actual item.
