A hard to find African gold dust box from the Ashanti (Asanti) goldfields. A rectangular lidded box made brass, handmade with fitted sides in brass by local gold and silversmiths, used for storing the favored currency prior to 1936 of gold dust. The lid fits relatively tight to the body with a breakout in the base on one corner. The lid has a high relief geometric decoration. Please view images as all images are of the actual item.
